    Hearts filled with darkness...
Nothing is what it seems, be it at first glance or after centuries. Deception always has been and now it seems it always will be. Mankind are blessed with the ability to hope, dream, believe and change things for the better. Disasters of many forms are ever occuring, be it natural or by man, and people complain, they seek help, people go to help and spend time and money upon the cause. Then they get bored and move on to the next project, thinking all is right with the world now they've been and done something. Many examples can be seen, most obvious being the third world countries, people send food and supplies, but this makes them reliant on us for survival. Instead they should be educated and trained to survive, but this would require more than just money, thus it is an idea frowned upon by those in high places. This is the ignorance that has so infected humanity.

But isn't this just a look at a select few people? Many are out there doing the right thing, yes, but still, I have learnt that again there is deception. The light of the soul may banish the ignorance and people will do good and act for the greater good, but this clarity and purity was not meant to last. All hearts are filled with darkness, we are controlled by it, by ignorance, desire, lust, anger, fear, hatred, jealousy and greed. Our hopes can hold them at bay, but we all let down our defences and the darkness always seeps back in, possessing us and returning us to the suffering lives we lead.

Does this mean humanity is evil and in all rights should be returned to the darkness it came from, the dark depths of the universe itself? I think not. I do not believe anyone can be purely evil or good, but the heart is clear, but is tainted not by our actions but by the intent. Darkness may fill our hearts, but even it can be used for the good of man and all life. It's sad to see it is not, and all we can do now is hope that people will at least shatter their ignorance and be able to laugh at it all.

Another thing that has troubled me lately is the design of humans. We are mechanical beings, we are designed for multiple purposes, the main being reproduction and survival. But why? What reason is there for this? When thinking of this the idea of a source code leapt to mind. Like with machinery and programs of all kinds there is a source code that controls all. In humanity this would have to be DNA, our genes and what they hold, the very things that are passed on down the generations. This makes DNA's life as long as that of the beings that carry them. The source code carries the purpose of the machine or program, and if our source is DNA and what it carries, does it make our purpose in existence to merely be vessels for it? Physically and even mentally this may be true, but it does not explain the thing that seperates man from all other beings, and that is the spirit. We feel and believe, we are unique. Perhaps this is a miraculous mistake, an error that gave us awareness beyond instinctive nature. Or perhaps when we realised we were not truly conscious we gained consciousness. If so, there are many yet to wake up.

People have changed so much I now know not who to trust and what to believe as truths seem to be ever-changing. People have become mechanical, you see someone and you automatically respond "Hello, how are you?", then conversation goes on to discuss who likes/dislikes who, who's going out with who, who's done what with who, and of course who's better than who. What happened to the times where you could talk to someone about the world and life, how you feel, discuss your fears, your hopes. Your dreams. What happened to the times where you could trust someone to be your friend from one day to the next without having to fear the inevitable attitude change from good friend to despicable foe.

All this comes down to choice, and it is up to us to decide what we make of all that is around us and what we ourselves are to become. I will fight against ignorance, yet the one thing that matters most is the one thing I can never have. This is the price I must pay, the cost of past ignorance and idiocy. I may never be loved by the one I love, but the least I can do is ensure others can reach happiness.

    Free your mind.

    I'm In.
And here it is, my first entry. I expected this place to seem so alien to me but it doesn't, in fact it seems like home. I guess it's time for me to be more open instead of keeping all my thoughts in the maze that is my mind.

I think I'll start off with an interesting topic that's been on my mind quite a bit as of late. What does it mean to be human these days? I always considered humans to be gifted beings, sentient beings that don't have to live by instinct as other creatures do. A race of beings with the ability to think for themselves and make choices. Alas it seems I gave many people too much credit. Look around you and see the mess humanity has become. A once proud species that lived by honour and wisdom is now as animalistic as any other creature on this planet. People have just thrown away the gifts we alone have been given, instead they live by instinct. Where once leaders rode to war leading an army against an equal foe we now have superpowers sending millions to destroy a far inferior opponent while the cowardly leaders sit miles away in safety, manipulated from the shadows. People have traded such things as peace and love for the more immediate violence and lust.

Why have people done this one might ask? Well simply, it's the easiest path to take. Modern people lack the dedication needed for things like love and peace. People give up before they even begin. The will to exist is dissapearing fast. People desire so much to pass on their seed but how many actually pass on the wisdom they carry to the next generation? Very little in this modern world, and thus humanity is doomed to be trapped in an endless revolution of mistakes unless people realise the gifts they have been given. People pray to Gods asking for things to be done, but why don't they do it themselves? They have been given all they need to do anything, all they need is to believe and have to will to go through with their decisions.

Doubtlessly I sound like a fool to many of you here but I am only saying what I see as the truth. Himanity needs to make its mind up and grow up. It'd interest me greatly to see the views of others on these matters. As I've shown it means so little to people these days to be human, and it is indeed a shame. I just hope people begin to give such infinite powers as love some respect in the future. If not then it is truly their loss. That is all for now, I hope I haven't bored everyone to death with my rambling.
